
Tenisha is a qualified counsellor with 15 years of experience supporting individuals, whānau, and communities across Aotearoa New Zealand. She joined HELP as an after-hours crisis counsellor and became a board member in 2025. Tenisha has held previous board roles in NFP and has been employed in social services and mental health, with much of her work focussed on supporting women, children and minoritised ethnic communities. Her work is grounded in a strong commitment to equity, trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, and creating meaningful social change. Tenisha is particularly passionate about ensuring that the voices of minoritised communities are recognised, valued, and reflected in the decisions that shape services and initiatives
