Grant Writer
Mount Eden, Auckland (Hybrid)
HELP Auckland is a free specialist support service for survivors of sexual abuse. We provide 24/7 crisis support, therapy, court support, and prevention education. Our vision is for a society free from sexual violence and our fundraising team helps make that possible.
The Role
We are looking for a thoughtful, detail-oriented Grant Writer to join our Fundraising Team. This is a great opportunity to combine your exceptional writing skills with meaningful work that supports survivors of sexual harm across Tāmaki Makaurau.
As our Grants Writer, you will play a key role in securing vital community funding through the development of compelling funding applications, funding proposals, and ensuring funding outcomes are accurately tracked and reported.
A talented wordsmith, you are able to bring together storytelling, strategy, attention to detail as well as an ability to communicate the impact of HELP’s services, engage donors and community support to strengthen the funding and partnerships that enable us to provide life-changing support to survivors when they need it most.
As an ideal candidate, you understand that limited resources are a part of life in charities and not-for-profit and so your experience thriving in these resource-conscious environments has given you a creative mindset to be able to maximise impact. Your ability to demonstrate success as a Grants Writer in these sectors, will give you an advantage and set you up for success in this role.

We are looking for someone who
- Has 2+ years of experience in grant writing or fundraising.
- Has experience working in the not-for-profit or charities sector.
- Write high-quality grant applications and reports that reflect HELP’s kaupapa and impact.
- Able to liaise with various teams to gather the right data and evidence.
- Track deadlines and funding allocations across HELP’s services.
- Research new grant opportunities and help shape our strategy to increase funding success.
- Build strong relationships with funders through great communication and accountability.

Finance Manager
Mount Eden, Auckland | 30–40 hours per week
This is an opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager who wants their work to mean something.
HELP Auckland supports women and children in their healing from the effects of sexual abuse and assault, while working towards the prevention of sexual violence. The organisation is survivor-centred, values-led and deeply committed to the wellbeing of its clients and its people.
HELP is now looking for a commercially capable, values-aligned Finance Manager to lead its finance function and contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director and leading two finance staff, you will provide the financial leadership, insight and discipline needed to support HELP’s long-term sustainability.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with senior leaders, the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and Trust Board. This is a senior role, but it is also hands-on. You must be comfortable moving between strategic advice and governance reporting, and the practical accounting work required to keep the finance function running well.
You will:
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring strong systems, controls and continuity
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and long-term financial planning
- Deliver clear management and governance reporting that supports sound decision-making
- Oversee payroll, accounts, reconciliations, statutory compliance and the annual audit
- Support funding applications, contract reporting, risk management and significant investment decisions
- Improve financial systems and processes while building financial capability across the organisation
About you: You will be an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical capability with sound judgement, warmth and a collaborative approach.
You will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in accounting or finance and CA ANZ membership, or equivalent
- At least seven years’ financial management experience, including three years in a senior role
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and statutory reporting experience
- Experience leading an audit and presenting financial information to senior leaders or Boards
- The ability and willingness to remain hands-on with accounting and financial operations
- A genuine connection to HELP’s purpose, values and survivor-centred approach
Experience in the not-for-profit, health or social services sector would be valuable, particularly exposure to government contracts, grant funding or Tier 2 PBE reporting.
